Welcome to Alandale Alpacas.

I am Chair of the British Alpaca Society Fibre Committee and give talks, spinning lessons and fibre sorting workshops across the country.

Alpaca has many magical properties in that it is warm in winter and cool in summer, being a hollow fibre. It is light and soft to the touch. Stronger than wool, it does not have the “itch” factor associated with wool and it is also hypo-allergenic.

I have a small herd of alpacas based in the West Country and use their fleeces almost exclusively to create my hand spun yarns. Each hank comes with the name of the alpaca who provided the beautiful fleece.

Raw fleece is available in natural colours with the name of the alpaca.

Dyed fleece comes in rainbow colours, but I can dye solid colours if required.

Yarn is dyed either from 100% Peruvian alpaca or mill spun locally from my own herd. Both solid and variegated yarns are available but the uniqueness of them tends to make them non-repeatable.
